Collisional-dephasing and Doppler-broadening effects on quantum interference in a Vee atomic system

چکیده
We investigate the effects of collisional dephasing and Doppler broadening on the quantum beats, narrow resonances, and probe transparency induced by quantum interference in a Vee-type atom consisting of an excited doublet coupled to a single ground level by the vacuum. We show that the amplitudes of the quantum-beat oscillations are greatly reduced, and the narrow resonances are substantially suppressed and broadened, for even very small dephasing rates and Doppler broadening. Fluorescence quenching and the previously reported probe transparency can never occur in the presence of dephasing collisions and Doppler broadening. © 1998 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(98)04907-8] OCIS codes: 020.1670, 020.2070, 020.3690, 300.1030.

Coherent Control of Quantum Entropy via Quantum Interference in a Four-Level Atomic System
The time evaluation of quantum entropy in a four-level double- type atomic system is theoretically investigated. Quantum entanglement of the atom and its spontaneous emission fields is then discussed via quantum entropy. It is found that the degree of entanglement can be increased by the quantum interference induced by spontaneous emission. The phase dependence of the atom-field entanglement is...
متن کاملBroadening mechanisms and their effects in non-classical correlations on cavity QED with atomic beams
Doppler and transit broadening effects inherent in a thermal atomic beam reduce the size of quantum fluctuations in a cavity QED system. A cold continuous atomic beam would reduce these effects, but would not eliminate the different atom–field couplings associated with the random distribution of atoms throughout the cavity. We present results that describe the effect that this has on quantum fl...

The relation between the jump length probability distribution function and the spectral line profile in resonance atomic radiation trapping is considered for partial frequency redistribution (PFR) between absorbed and reemitted radiation. The single line opacity distribution function [M. N. Berberan-Santos et al., J. Chem. Phys. 125, 174308 (2006)] is generalized for PFR and used to discuss sev...

The magnetoresistance of a one-dimensional electron gas in a metallic ferromagnetic nanowire containing two atomic-size domain walls has been investigated in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. The magnetoresistance is calculated in the ballistic regime, within the Landauer-Büttiker formalism. It has been demonstrated that the conductance of a magnetic nanowire with double domain walls...
متن کاملSuppression of inhomogeneous broadening using the ac Stark shift
Inhomogeneous broadening is ubiquitous in light-matter interactions [1]. When a laser beam interacts with a gas, the dominant broadening is typically due to the Doppler effect, which causes atoms to experience different laser frequencies depending on their velocities. For atoms embedded in crystals, the inhomogeneous broadening is a result of the shifts in the energy levels due to local variati...
